Outside the Box by Thomas Badar
A spectator names any card they want. Completely freely. No force, no restriction. And the position of that exact card in the shuffled deck is already printed on the card box that has been sitting in view the whole time.
No calculations. No memorisation. No sleight of hand. No table needed. And the deck is completely normal.
Outside the Box is Thomas Badar’s personal prediction tool, a feature in his own solo shows, and one of those rare close-up effects that functions not only as a standalone miracle but as a universal utility you can reach for whenever another trick goes sideways. Think of it as an always-ready Out: if a spectator names a card that was not the one you planned for, the box in your pocket already predicted it. Every time. For all 52 cards.
The gimmick is the box itself. If you have the box, you have the trick. No extra props, no table required, no special deck to carry alongside it. You can use any standard deck of playing cards, continue your card set with the same cards immediately after performing, and reset in seconds without any setup between performances. It is as practical a prediction tool as close-up magic has produced.
Three complete routines are included. The main routine is the core prediction: spectator names any card, you reveal the position on the box, they count to it in the deck themselves. Simple, direct, and fooling.
The second routine uses an iPhone or iPad with a special Keynote presentation included in the package, turning the effect into a striking digital experience that scales beautifully to stage and parlour settings without requiring any app to be downloaded.
The third routine is a rapid-fire version built for situations where you want something powerful in the shortest possible time.
The deck is not included. A standard Bicycle deck is recommended.
