Crystal Prison by Flat Base and TCC Magic

A signed, scrambled cube vanishes from a crushed paper bag and reappears locked inside a transparent box that has been in plain sight since before the routine began. Everything is examinable. Everything is real. And there is nowhere for the cube to have gone.

Crystal Prison is a collaboration between Flat Base, creator of the celebrated PIN, and TCC Magic, and it solves two problems that have quietly frustrated cube magic performers for years: most signed cube effects are difficult to perform cleanly in the spectator's hands, and most end with props that cannot be immediately handed out. Crystal Prison resolves both completely, delivering a signed cube transposition with a locked, transparent reveal that is as clean at the finish as it is at the start.

Here is how the routine plays: a prediction bag and two cubes are introduced. The spectator chooses one freely, signs it, and scrambles it however they like. Both cubes go into a paper bag. The unscrambled cube is removed and set aside. In a startling moment, the paper bag is crushed completely flat. The signed cube has vanished. The prediction bag is opened to reveal a locked transparent acrylic box. Inside it, unmistakably, is the spectator's signed, scrambled cube.

The transparent box is what makes the reveal so powerful. There is no cloth, no envelope, no opaque container asking the audience to trust you. The cube is simply there, visible and locked, exactly as impossible as it should be. Every prop can be fully inspected immediately after the effect, and the high sense of participation and closeness it allows makes this equally powerful for intimate close-up settings and larger stage or parlour performances.

An alternative presentation is also included: begin with a scrambled cube already visibly locked inside the transparent box before the routine even starts. The spectator signs a cube and watches it vanish from the paper bag. When the locked box is opened, the cube inside is revealed to be theirs.

Beyond the core transposition, Crystal Prison is built as an expandable performance framework. The acrylic box locks and unlocks with a key, setting up a natural transition into an instant solve or a pattern matching effect the moment the initial revelation lands. The premium storage bag doubles as the prediction bag, so the prop handling is completely natural throughout.

The craftsmanship throughout is exceptional. Each cube is hand-selected and treated for maximum smoothness. The TCC exclusive shell is produced on a dedicated line with custom stickers, making it indistinguishable from a standard cube even at extremely close range. And the crystal acrylic box has been extensively tested to balance its completely clear aesthetics with a smooth, reliable user experience under real performance conditions.
